about

TARGETS
is a song about breaking the mold of toxic masculinity. A composition that encapsulates Matthew Gray's personal journey and the struggles he has faced in a world that often celebrates aggression, bigotry, and dominance. With introspective lyrics and an emotive melody. Matthew says: “We wanted it to be a raw and honest exploration of the human experience, inviting our listeners to reflect on their own encounters with rejection and societal pressures." This is off of the band’s forthcoming LP If You Find Yourself Floating Away the long-awaited follow-up to 2017’s The Glooms Pt. 1.

lyrics

I woke up in a night-sweat
with the vision of my fist meeting your face...
while doing numbers in my head
and slamming an IPA.

I wanted to let you in
but you're as crooked as a snake
x2

which color will you paint on the target on my back?
is it the shade of the day? or just another means of attack...
I won't let this fade..
i won't let this fade..
I won't let this fade away.
so take me out of here.
take me out of here...

about

Matthew And The Arrogant Sea Denton, Texas

This is the weird that comes from someone with a tuned-in brain that sidesteps the obvious and makes terrifically melodic and dense studies in idiosyncratic lives. It’s the weird that you get when you’re at peace with your weirdness, not the kind you get if you’re completely unaware that there’s anything at all odd about you.”
